AIDAN FERRIS and BSC Glasgow produced an electric second-half performance to come back and defeat Lowland League new boys Hawick Royal Albert at The Indodrill Stadium.

Ferris was the hat-trick hero, including two goals in the final ten minutes to give BSC their first win of the season.

The game started at frantic pace, with both sides attacking early, but it was the visitors who struck first. A Hawick corner was cleared only as far as striker Josh Morris on the edge of the area, and his volley beat Joe Wilton after a deflection in the crowded penalty area.

Gary Redpath came close as BSC looked to get straight back into the game, but his effort from a low cross inched wide.

Full back Gerard Traynor then found Redpath again, making a late run into the area, and his effort from close-in was only stopped by an outstanding save from Hawick keeper Andrew Jack.

Ross Archibald and Kris Mitchell both had headers for the visitors go wide as they looked to extend their lead, but BSC held on and went in a goal behind at half time.

But as the second half started, it was clear it was going to be a different affair. BSC displayed blistering pace, with Jamie Cunningham having an effort saved by Jack within the opening minute.

And that pace paid off five minutes in. Ferris backed James McPartlin into a corner, before stealing the ball and being fouled by the Hawick winger.

Captain Mark Dryden hung the ball up at the back post for Mark Toner to knock back across goal and Ferris to apply the final touch.

With the game heading into the final stages, Ferris grabbed his second and handed BSC the lead. Some good play in the final third found Riccardo Corrieri down the left in behind the Hawick defence, and he unselfishly laid it across to Ferris to knock home into the open goal.

And three minutes later it was three for the striker, with Traynor’s powerful shot from distance parried away well by Jack, but only as far as substitute Shaun Bowers, who got his head up to find Ferris unmarked to finish and seal an excellent win for the home side.

BSC Glasgow now go into next weekend’s tough tie away to Dalbeattie Star in eighth place in the fledgling Lowland League table.
