Wee County Vaulters are organising a free equestrian vaulting session as part of the nation’s biggest sports day, I Am Team GB.

The event is part of a nationwide campaign that has inspired thousands of UK clubs to open their doors to new participants.

This campaign is brought to you by ITV and The National Lottery, working with the British Olympic Association, UK Sport and supported by Join In, to inspire the Great British public to take part in sport.

What's more, many of the nation's Olympians, fresh from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will be attending events across the nation to give people the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with Team GB.

Wee County Vaulters is proud to fly the I Am Team GB flag in the Clackmannanshire area.

The group will be holding its first ever vaultathon, trying to vault non-stop for four hours.

There will be displays on the hour every hour from club vaulters and members of Team GBR who will have just returned from the European Championships in France.

After the display you are invited to participate in the vaulting session for the remainder of the hour.

You will learn how to get on the horse as well as some basic moves.

Participants will have the option to vault on the barrel (fake horse) or on the horse in walk or even canter – if you are feeling brave.

There will be some challenges set throughout the sessions for everyone to try.

Everyone is welcome, sessions will be tailored to your age and ability, but stretchy tight-fitting clothes are recommended.

Joanne Eccles, 2014 vaulting World Champion said: "We are so excited to put on this great event and be part of I Am Team GB.

"Vaulting is such an exciting sport and we are thrilled to be able to give everyone the opportunity to come along and see it as well as try the sport we love, particularly as it is a fairly unusual one. Vaulting really is special, it brings everyone together working as one big team creating bonds between vaulters and with horses.”

Saturday, August 27, 1-5pm (four sessions will run, each beginning on the hour) at Balhearty Farm, Coalsnaughton.
