A 24-year-old man sent an indecent photo through Snapchat to a young girl in Sauchie.

Aaron Baird, of Milton Estate, West Dunbartonshire, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on June 19, 2022, at Sauchie he caused a girl then aged 12 to look at a sexual image by sending an image and video of his naked penis to her via Snapchat.

Defence solicitor Kelly Howe said: “He has poor social skills and the report highlights difficulties such as acting without thinking.”

The report also stated that there was a high risk of Baird committing similar offences.

Sheriff Neil Bowie commented that it appeared Baird knew the girl from his job working in a shop.

The sheriff also remarked that Baird’s version of events, as told to the social worker, was “at odds” with the Crown narrative, read out in court at the previous hearing.

Baird was claiming that the girl sent him images of herself and asked him to send her pictures.

When told about this version, depute fiscal Sean Iles said: “That’s news to me.”

Sheriff Bowie decided there would have to be a proof in mitigation to establish exactly what happened.

Sentencing was deferred until the proof hearing which will take place on May 28.

Baird has been put on the sex offenders' register on an interim basis until sentencing.
