A WEE COUNTY artist will have a piece of his artwork put on display at a top London art gallery next week.

Kyle Blain, 21, has had his painting of a Kendrick Lamar album cover chosen to feature at the Holy Art Gallery in the UK capital.

The painting will be on display from Friday, January 12 to Sunday, January 21, with visitors able to purchase it for themselves.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Kyle said he was excited for the next step in his highly promising art career.

“This has been something I’ve always really wanted to do,” he said. “It’s a really big step for me so I’m really excited for it.

“I submitted a couple of pieces for them and they got back to me saying the Kendrick Lamar piece was handpicked.

“This was a piece I did around two years ago now, it’s nice to finally get that piece out there and get some spotlight and attention on it.”

The chosen piece was Kyle’s painting of Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, a Kendrick Lamar album released in 2022.

The album cover shows Lamar standing with his fiancé and two children, with Kyle’s work a perfect copy of the original, albeit produced in Kyle’s signature art style.

Kyle added: “I did this painting when the album came out. Usually, I’m more into indie/rock music but it was one that really stuck with me.

“The cover really stood out to me and I thought it was one that would look really good in my style so I gave it a go.”

This is a huge move for Kyle, who has been going leaps and bounds in the art world, having opened his first showcase in Clackmannan in April.

He also has a dedicated studio space in Clackmannan Town Hall, where he can devote time and effort to his art while also balancing his studies at Glasgow School of Art.

Kyle’s artwork can be viewed and purchased for between £10-£24 from his website kyleblainart.com.
