PARK Primary Nursery Class recently received outstanding grades from inspectors.
Following a visit from the Care Inspectorate in May, officials graded the service “Very Good” (5) in all areas, highlighting that children were “happy, confident and eager to learn”.
The report said: “Children were supported to a very good level to ensure that their transition in the nursery was a positive experience.
“We could see children were happy, confident and eager to learn.
“They told us about how much they were looking forward to moving to primary one. Parents agreed staff have supported children well to get them ready for the move to school.”
It went on to say: “The nursery has a commendable inclusive ethos. Staff worked with others to ensure they had an in-depth understanding of the children’s complex needs.”
The Care Inspectorate grades the quality of care and support, the quality of the environment, the quality of staffing and the quality of management and leadership on a scale from 1 to 6 or from “Unsatisfactory” to “Excellent”.
Councillor George Matchett, spokesperson for education, said: “This inspection report has many positive things to say about the care and education of the children at Park Primary School Nursery Class, and I am pleased to hear that staff have created a warm, welcoming and inclusive environment for children.
“Well done to the whole nursery community for all the hard work they put into making the nursery experience such a positive one for the children. We will be working to ensure that the Park Primary School Nursery continues to improve and develop in the future.”
The service has managed to improve by a whole grade in all areas since 2010, when an announced inspection only rated it “Good” in all areas.
